| December 2005 | From the AGM | |
|
There was a good turnout for this years Annual General Meeting which was once again held at Fleetwood Cricket Club. Andy Monks was elected as the new club chairman as Malcolm Atkinson stood down after several years in the role. Malcolm received a vote of thanks from all club members for all the hard work he had put in over the past years especially for his negotiations with Lancashire County Council during the instigation of the new flying site. Trevor Starkie was elected to replace Andy as safety officer. Dave Squire volunteered to take on the demanding role of club secretary due to the resignation of Mark Atkinson, the club again thanked Mark for all his work over the past years. Although not now a particularly active flyer Roy Allam has for the past 25 years been attending both the FCMFA committee meetings and the BMFA North West Area meetings on behalf of our club. Roy has a remarkable attendance record for these meetings and it was felt that he should be recognised for all his hard work and made an honorary FCMFA member. Roy accepted this honour and thanked the club for the recognition. The trophy for Most Improved Flyer was awarded to Dave Squire who has achieved his ‘A’ certificate in record time. John Wong deservedly received the ‘Member of The Year’ award for enthusiastically assisting fellow members and for his help in setting up the new site. After the meeting closed two of Tony Tremolo's models, which were very kindly given to the club by his wife, were put up for auction. The first model an Islander was purchased by John Prothero for £270, the second a Hawker Demon by Tom Anyon for £350. |

| February 2006 | Membership figure 52 at the beginning of March | |
|
Club membership secretary Bill Lawrenson informed the committee that up to the 3rd of February the club membership stood at 52. Bill also confirmed that he had received the FCMFA certificate of affiliation from the BMFA. As previously mentioned the trial fencing around the pits area was deemed a success and as such it was decided to make the fencing permanent using Meta Spikes and wooden posts. Jim Powel submitted a materials estimate of £150 which the committee accepted. Brian Tindle has received a letter from LCC Environmental Officer Rosemary Pritchard who is proposing to bring Jim Knight who is the Under Secretary for Rural Affairs and Bio-diversity on a site visit on Friday 10th February at approx 11:30. Rosemary has asked if the club would be prepared to do a flying and static display as part of the visit. Any member who is available on this date is asked to contact a committee member for further details. It was felt that the club lacked social events and it was suggested that talks by guest speakers be held during the winter months and BBQs during the summer. John Prothero agreed to do the first talk subject to room availability at the cricket club. Finally, Andy Monks informed the committee that the FCMFA has now been on the Jameson Road site for 30 years and that suggestions on how to celebrate this landmark would be very welcome. |

|
As you all know the Easter comp is coming up fast, what you won’t know is that other clubs especially Chingle are practicing so we have to get our act together or get thrashed! I suggest that you use a balloon with a small amount of water in it, just enough to make it about the same size as an egg. So get cracking its going to be eggsciting !! John P. |

| 22nd March 2006 | A Message from down under!!! | |
|
Gadday to everyone at FCMFA,
It seems a long time since I
have seen those faces on the pictures from 2005 Jubilee
celebrations. It is about time Albert bought himself a new
plane, I didn't think I built it that well! Good to see the
club is still thriving after what seems to have been ages
without a field.
I am still flying at the local field at Whiteman park mostly small aircraft and fast electric glider types. Because the weather is good flying can be done nearly every day of the year. Jets are very popular with a range of turbines including Wren from UK, also turbine helis. Family says hello to you all, keep up the good work with the web page I will try to view it from time to time. Has Brian finished and flown his Hurricane? Also sorry to hear about Tony Tremlow great bloke and modeller. Best regards to everyone ................. Rob (Rob was a very active member of the club before he emigrated to Australia a few years ago. It's good to see that news of the web site has reached that far in the few weeks since its launch) |

| 23rd April 2006 | Egg Bombing competition a success | |
| Today finally saw
the long awaited egg bombing competition take place. There were
8 entrants including Paul Leech from Blackpool club, Larry
Collis and Pete Stone from Chingle Hall club along with our own
members - Dave Hartley, Dave Squire, Trevor Starkey, Andy Monks
and the competition secretary, John Prothero. It was a lovely sunny day with a stiff breeze that could get a little chilly out of the shelter of the container. 1st and 3rd places were taken by pilots flying Weston Cougars and 2nd place pilot was flying an electric model which seems to show that the slower models had the edge on the day. Go to the gallery for pictures and to find out who won! Thanks to the guys from Chingle and Blackpool for making this an inter club event and also a big thanks to Dorothy who looked after the catering and Linda who was in charge of the score sheet ensuring fair play at all times. By the way we took £34.00 to add the the club funds!! Finally - Thanks to John Prothero for organising the event. Ever seen John speechless and smiling at the same time. Take a look in the gallery! |
