For the first meeting on Tuesday the 7th October at 7:30 members are asked to bring along their latest project whether finished or not. This should  be a good start to the social evening calendar and will hopefully stimulate plenty of discussion.

The following is an email from CONWY County Borough Council who are organising a modelling event. If supported this could become a major event in years to come. Take a look at the link if you fancy a day out in Wales. The BMFA will be there.

I am writing to tell you about Model Show Wales.  Model Show Wales is a new professional model exhibition which will be launched in August this year.  The exhibition will take place at Venue Cymru in Llandudno on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th August from 10am daily.  Tickets are only £5 or £4 for pensioners and £3 for children.

The event will feature a strong high quality railway theme with working layouts from N-gauge through to G-Scale and 7/8ths, with working live steam 16mm narrow gauge exhibits.  Other exhibitors will cover the world of miniature engineering including model trams, boats, cars, planes and tanks.  The Wirral Model Car Club will be running a visitor participation competition for timed laps, the British Model Flying Association will be demonstrating electric powered flight; both fixed wing and helicopters, and Tank Command Ltd will be attending with their radio controlled model tank squadrons.

LiPo Warning
Kevin Smith was trawling around the web recently and came across a link to the web site of one, Tom Laureanno. An unfortunate fellow modeller from across the pond who has learnt about LiPo safety the hard way. Most of us use these batteries more and more these days. Please do click the link and take a look at what happened to Tom who has to be congratulated for documenting his disaster so we can all benefit. www.laureanno.com/RC/RC-fire.html There is a lot to take in and it is well worth reading the whole lot.

Thanks to Kevin for the link. If anyone else comes across anything of interest on the web and wants to pass it on via our own web site email bob@fcmfa.co.uk
17th Mar 08 Last social evening of the winter season

Next month on the 1st April (and this is no joke) we will be having the last in the current series of the social evenings at Fleetwood Cricket Club, it is hoped to restart them in October over the winter months.

In April's meeting we will be holding an in-house auction, so if you have any model aircraft related items you want selling, now’s the time to dig them out and bring them to the meeting. It would be helpful if you can include brief details of the item to be auctioned.

6th Feb  2008 Social evening and "Model Flying Museum" talk
Around thirty members turned up to the February social meeting where John Prothero gave an extremely interesting talk covering the history of modelling. John had brought with him his collection of boxed kits from the 60's and 70's.

The talk covered all aspects of the hobby including free flight and of course John's passion, control line. One of the most interesting aspects was his collection of small hand made diesel motors including ED racer replica mini engines and John Oliver, who's engines were vastly superior to anything else in the fifties.

Apologies for picture quality - Low res mobile phone

Thanks John for a really interesting evening.

6th Jan  2008 Awards at the recent AGM

5th Jan  2008 Social evening and talk on all things electric
Our first social evening for 2008, takes place this coming Tuesday (8th January) at Fleetwood Cricket Club at 7.30pm, when Rob Wardale has very kindly agreed to give a talk on electrics i.e. Electrics in aircraft and aircraft powered by electric. It should be a very good and interesting talk, so if you want to know anything about electrics or are thinking of flying electric aircraft, don't miss next Tuesdays meeting.
Our membership has requested that our club put on these social evenings but in the past these evenings haven't been well attended, so this meeting on Tuesday will be a gauge to see how popular these social meetings are by our membership, if many members turn up and it proves a success then Rob has said he can get hold of some guest speakers for our future social evenings. So if you want these social evenings to continue, please support them by attending.

Hope to see you all there next Tuesday.

Andy Monks.  (Chairman)
5th Jan  2008 Happy New Year
At last the web site can be updated!!!! There have been a number of issues that have prevented the updating of the web site over the last few months. We lost the site completely in November. Thanks to the members who reported this. Once that problem was sorted we then had some difficulty communicating with and updating the site.

All these problems are behind us now and we look forward to regular updates on the site.
